Encore Sotheby’s International Realty announces the sale of two extraordinary Culver-area estates in a single acquisition, representing one of the most significant residential transactions in Indiana.
The transaction included the Lake Maxinkuckee estate at 944 South Shore Drive and a 72-acre recreational and lifestyle property at 17052 State Road 110, located just minutes from the lake. Both properties were formerly built and owned by the late Jim Irsay, as well as his family, who are widely recognized for their philanthropic leadership and longstanding stewardship of the Indianapolis Colts. Together, the properties create an unparalleled Midwest retreat combining premier lakefront living with expansive recreational land and resort-level amenities.
The properties were acquired by a single buyer as part of one transaction. In accordance with privacy preferences, the buyer’s identity and purchase price are not being disclosed.
The Lake Maxinkuckee estate offers more than 200 feet of shoreline and over 35,000 finished square feet across multiple custom structures. The European-inspired main residence spans nearly 14,000 square feet and includes 8 bedrooms, 10 full baths, and 2 half baths, featuring timber-framed ceilings, hand-crafted details, expansive lake views, and a rare walkout lower level.
Amenities include a wellness-focused indoor pool house with retractable lake-facing doors for true indoor/outdoor living, a separate guest house providing private accommodations, an entertainment complex with bowling alley and shooting range, and extensive outdoor living spaces designed for lakeside gatherings and recreation.
The second property spans more than 72 gated acres and is designed for recreation, privacy, and large-scale entertaining. Highlights include a recreational barn with attached living quarters featuring a full-size indoor tennis court with 60-foot ceilings, mezzanine fitness center, and heated garage space; a luxury cabin; a private stocked lake; heated zero-entry pool; trail systems; and a helipad. Together, these amenities create a resort-caliber environment for recreation, gatherings, and multi-generational use.
“It is rare to see properties of this caliber come together in a single acquisition,” said Andrea Kelly, listing agent with Encore Sotheby’s International Realty. “Together, they create an extraordinary legacy estate that combines premier lakefront living with expansive recreational land, underscoring the continued demand for lifestyle-driven properties and the strength of Indiana’s luxury market.”
The seller was represented by Andrea Kelly of Encore Sotheby’s International Realty, whose deep expertise in Indiana’s luxury markets guided the transaction.
