National retailer RH, developer M Development and Christel House International are excited to announce that the sale of Linden House, the estate of the late Christel DeHaan, has closed and will become the home of the RH furniture showroom, interior design gallery, upscale RH restaurant, wine bar and outdoor furniture gallery.
Linden House is a 41,762-square-foot mansion on approximately 168 acres along Michigan Road, just west of the White River, adjacent to Butler University, Newfields and The International School.
RH, which operated as Restoration Hardware prior to 2017, will lease and operate the property. RH’s goal is to open in summer 2023. The estate will be turned into a spectacular showroom curated with RH-brand products. Customers will have the opportunity to explore the estate, gardens, and order furnishings at the showroom.
RH has opened similar galleries and restaurants in Boston, Chicago, Dallas, New York City and San Francisco.
Ms. DeHaan’s estate was co-listed by Mike Johnson, of residential real estate brokerage Encore Sotheby’s International Realty, and, Stan Burton, of commercial real estate brokerage Avison Young. The estate was listed for $14,000,000, in January of this year, and is now the highest selling residential property in Indiana’s history, at $14,500,000.
“Having the opportunity to co-list Linden House, along with Stan Burton of Avison Young, has been an exciting opportunity and the highlight of my 25-year career. It has been an honor to work with CD Realty to help make this a successful experience. This incredible estate will now become the home of one of a select number of RH showrooms and restaurants. Indianapolis will share that designation along with similar showrooms in Boston, Chicago, Dallas, NYC and San Francisco. The residents of Indianapolis will soon have the opportunity to experience the grandeur of this amazing estate and private gardens,” Mike Johnson, co-listing broker, said of the sale.
“We are incredibly thrilled to have had one of our accomplished agents, Mike Johnson, co-list Linden House with Stan Burton of Avison Young, leading to the successful and record-breaking sale of the remarkable property,” said Mark Zukerman, CEO and Founder of Encore Sotheby’s International Realty. “Looking forward, we are equally grateful for the legacy of Christel DeHaan and excited to see RH capitalize on the extraordinary residence to create a one-of-a-kind experience in Indianapolis.”
Proceeds from the sale of the property will support Christel House International. Christel House International serves 6,688 students at nine schools: four in Indianapolis, two in India and one each in Jamaica, Mexico and South Africa. The organization also provides students with five years of post-graduation support in the form of financial, academic and career assistance through its Christel House College and Careers program.
