Steuben County has over 100 natural lakes, more than any other Indiana county! These lakes harbor wildlife, frame Pokagon State Park, and provide endless recreation opportunities.
Pokagon State Park is named after Leopold and Simon Pokagon, leaders of the Potawatomi tribe that originally lived in the area. Pokagon State Park was dedicated in 1925 and features a quarter-mile-long toboggan run enjoyed by over 90,000 visitors annually.
The annual Angola Balloons Aloft Festival showcases colorful hot air balloons against the beautiful natural backdrop of the region. The festival also features live music, vendors, a car show, and activities for the whole family.
Steuben County was a stop on the Underground Railroad during the Civil War for many seeking freedom in Canada.
